The first day of Lunisolar calendar is also known as Gudi Padwa or Ugadi. The word ‘Padwa’ comes from Sanskrit word ‘प्रतिपद’ (pratipada.) or ‘प्रतिपदा’ (pratipadā).

It marks the New Year for the people in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Karnataka of India.

In Maharashtra, we celebrate this day with rangolis(beautiful designs with colorful sands.), a special Gudi flag (garlanded with flowers, mango & neem leaves,.topped with upturned silver or copper vessel.), street processions, dancing & festive foods.

We at Golden Robot continued this tradition and celebrated the festival in a similar manner. Our very talented team of artists drew out a beautiful rangoliThe Gudi was tied and we performed a small puja. Everyone wished each other the greetings of Hindu New Year and fed each other sweets. The celebrations ended with us enjoying the popular Maharashtrian sweet dish ‘puranpoli’.
