Diwali is one of the major festivals of India which is celebrated with extra pomp and fanfare. It marks the day of the return of Lord Rama along with his wife Sita & younger brother Laxman.
Ages ago, it was a new moon night when the people of Ayodhya lit oil lamps to drive away the darkness and welcome their beloved King Rama. That day onwards, the new moon night in the month of Ashwin in the Hindu Calendar is celebrated as Diwali.

This year our Diwali celebrations started weeks before the actual festival. Our Cultural Committee had planned out various competitions at the department level.

The first one was the Bay Decoration wherein the departments were supposed to decorate their Bay area. The Assets team were announced as the winners. Animation and Production-Marketing were the other winners of the Bay Decoration competition.

Secondly, a rangoli competition was also held on the occasion of Dhanteras. Again, the Assets team bagged the first prize. The Animation team won the second prize.

On the day of the celebration, there was a ramp walk arranged and there were Best Dressed – Male & Female prizes awarded to Shamshad Hussain and Kalyani Dhuppe.

Lastly, there was a round of the Grand Diwali Special Housie. The Diwali Gifts were then given out in the end.

All of us wished each other the greetings of the festival and bade goodbye till the end of Diwali Holidays with our hearts filled with fun, excitement and joy!
